Deep tissue massage is a type of soft tissue massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue.
It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Deep tissue is used to break up and eliminate scar tissue. I will use a variety of techniques to target the underlying layers of muscle and fascia.
It can be slightly uncomfortable at times, but we'll work together to ensure the pressure applied is tolerable and you enjoy it. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for people who have chronic pain or muscle tension in specific areas.
We'll start every session with a short discussion and range of movement tests that help guide the direction of the session.
It's best to wear loose comfortable clothing that you can easily reposition or remove depending on the area of the body being treated.
Deep Tissue Massage sessions last 60 minutes. You can expect to be on the couch for at least 45 minutes being worked on.
Most clients have 2 to 3 massage sessions in the first 2 weeks to address and get ahead of the main issues.
Following that, clients drop to a maintenance treatments of 1 session per month. However, all this depends on your injury/problem, availability and how much treatment you want and need.
I look forward to seeing you in the clinic to prevent injuries and/or getting you pain free.
